Artist's Statement
My paintings have been mostly inspired by my experiences since retirement from teaching art, a 38 year career.
When I approach that large blank canvas I know what a writer experiences with the blank page and blank mind. I know that if I fight through it it all starts taking form. and something appears. I do like to experiment with styles and subject matter. I am not stuck on any specific style that will probably develop slowly I am very patient with myself. I learned I do not need to please anyone but myself. I explored landscapes then abstracts to arrange balance line color shape and composition. Flowers are very forgiving so I have done many. I love working in oils but have also used acrylic media. In the end I am a casual painter who wants to be happy with my work.
I share this experience with you.
